Visual Language
My reference for spiritual connection has always been rooted in my love of nature. When I was eleven, I awoke in the middle of the night in my sleeping bag on the crest ridge of a mountain trail. I can still remember the feeling of the earth below wrapping me in a warm embrace and ferrying me along on an initiation journey.
Time, memories, perceptions and context change. What we leave behind may become more visual over time like a cave painting, a petroglyph, or a lost language yet a presence lingers and rediscovery begins. So perhaps as we trace the past, a distant generation will understand us through a formal language represented by discarded glass jars and bottles. In other words- the connection between past, present and future, reveals order in chaos, or chaos in order because everything is connected to everything else! |
