Outside of Time

Making art is a solitary activity, never lonely, but instead fully engaged with forces outside of time. Athletes know this place as the “zone.” This is the place where we are most powerful and creative. Time literally collapses as our experience creates a hyper focused state where anything is possible and actions become instinctive and effortless. It is this state of being that creators can glimpse at a world beyond the constraints of time. The earth may continue its rotation as it has since its creation, but no longer bound by the artificial constraints of the calendar or clock artists freely commune with the ancestors and ancients. There is wisdom in the place outside of time, where the collective knowledge of our universe resides. It is here where we can honor nature, life and self.
