COLD WAX
Cold wax is a new exploration in texture and oil paints. Twenty years ago I started my studio practice with oil paints and other viscous materials like tar most of which I have sold over the years. I switched to acrylic paints in 1999 when the fumes in my studio were too toxic , but I always missed the organic quality of oil paints. Well, now I have this wonderful cold wax medium introduced to me by my friend Jerry Mclaughlin who happens to have coauthored a book with Rebecca Crowell on the use of cold wax. I dare to say their book is a sensation and they have waiting lists on their workshops.
I am very found of texture and materials incorporating many different kinds with my side hobbies of construction and gardening, which carryover into the artwork I make. My continued journey in abstraction allows me an endless supply of visual freedom to express my reaction to everyday experiences and thoughts that are often difficult to put into words. I hope my audience finds common ground and a dialogue of ideas can begin. |
